Outstation travel from Mysuru has an advantage the other hubs do not: most of the good destinations are close. Coorg, Bandipur, Wayanad, Ooty and Nagarahole are all within a comfortable half day, which means a two-night trip is a real holiday rather than two days of driving with a night in the middle. It also means the daily minimum of 300 kilometres deserves explaining, because a Mysuru–Coorg round trip covers perhaps 250 kilometres against a 600-kilometre two-day minimum.

That is not a trick. It is how a vehicle and chauffeur committed to you for two days get paid when the days involve short distances and long stops. But it does mean short outstation trips from Mysuru are, per kilometre travelled, expensive — and we would rather explain that up front than have it discovered on the invoice. Where a trip is genuinely short, ask us to quote it as a local day-hire package instead and compare the two.

The longer runs from Mysuru go north to Hampi and Badami, west to the coast at Gokarna and Murudeshwar, or south through the ghats into Kerala. Anything crossing into Kerala or Tamil Nadu needs an interstate permit obtained before dispatch, charged at actuals with the receipt. The Kerala crossings in particular reward planning: the road south through Bandipur into Wayanad is subject to the night traffic ban, and a departure that ignores it simply does not happen.

Driver batta is a separate thousand rupees per day, with the same again as late-night batta where the vehicle runs between ten at night and six in the morning. On wildlife itineraries the driver's day is unusual: safaris start before dawn and finish after dusk, with a long idle middle. We would rather plan a genuine rest in that gap than have a chauffeur on call for fourteen hours, and where an itinerary makes that impossible we will say so before you book rather than after.

Season matters here more than at our other hubs, because so many Mysuru routes run through the Western Ghats. The same Coorg or Wayanad itinerary that is entirely straightforward in February becomes a different proposition in July, when the climbs are wet, visibility drops and landslip diversions are a live possibility. During the monsoon we check road status before dispatch and will reroute or advise against a leg rather than commit a group to a stretch we would not drive ourselves.
