Mysuru has an unusually good local temple circuit, which makes it one of the few hubs where a genuine pilgrimage day trip is possible rather than a compressed version of a longer itinerary. Going early solves it. Arriving at midday on a Sunday does not, whatever the map suggests about the distance.

The longer circuits head west into the Western Ghats — Sringeri, Horanadu, Dharmasthala and Kukke Subrahmanya — and these are properly multi-day. The temples are separated by ghat roads that are slow, often wet, and subject to diversion or closure during the monsoon. We check road status before dispatch and will reroute rather than send a group onto a stretch being repaired. Compressing this circuit into a weekend produces a lot of driving and very little time at any shrine, and we will say so if asked.

Practically, the streets around a working temple are narrow and crowded, and parking a long vehicle near an entrance is often impossible. The chauffeur will drop at the nearest workable point and hold somewhere legal, which occasionally means a short walk. Tell us at the time of booking if anyone in the group has difficulty walking — it changes which entrances we can reach, and at Chamundi Hills in particular it may change the time of day we recommend going.

Vehicle choice deserves thought on the western circuits. The ghat approaches to Sringeri and Kukke Subrahmanya are narrower than anything on the local Mysuru loop, and a seventeen seater on them is slower and less comfortable than a thirteen. Where a group sits near the boundary between the two, the smaller vehicle often makes the better trip even though the larger one would technically seat everyone — and it costs less, which is why we mention it rather than waiting to be asked.
